Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep
Now I lay me down to sleep,
for the lost my heart should weep.
If he should die before I wake,
I know the Lord, his soul, won’t take.
And yet we slumber in our bed,
unconcerned for man’s painful end.
Knowing the gospel for ourselves,
yet keeping faith upon our shelves.
We enjoy His abundant grace,
awaiting to see Him face to face.
Yet we do not hear what He has said!
Concerned not for man’s coming dread!
And so we sleep with blissful dreams,
Never hearing Hell’s deadly screams.
Oh that we might soon would grieve,
and bid men unto Christ to cleave.
Rescue is offered by Christ alone,
but He’s determined through men to show,
redemption’s peace with the Father is free,
but must be preached by you and by me!
